Climbingrules at Sit
In our climbing facility, safety is the most important thing. Everyone who climbs at Sit must read the current rules, and is obliged to follow them to ensure both their own safety and that of others.
Rules for the climbing hall on Øya
You can injure yourself or injure others if you fall from the climbing wall - read this before entering the climbing and bouldering area!
The climbing facility at Øya gym in Helgasetr consists of a rope wall and a boulder wall, with a height of 13 meters and 3.5 meters respectively. Altogether, the climbing surface is about 440 square metres, and the climbing offer is adapted to beginners and more experienced climbers.
Sit Trening has overall responsibility for safety in the climbing hall and for safety checks to be carried out in accordance with established routines. The climbing facility is unstaffed, and for safety reasons, Sit Trening does not offer belays or rental equipment.
All climbing and activity in the climbing hall is done at your own risk, and all users are obliged to familiarize themselves with basic safety and climbing rules. Climbing courses in climbing will be held regularly in the climbing hall. In the case of a course, the course instructor is responsible for ensuring that the required equipment is available, and the course instructor is responsible for all safety of the course participants.
Who can use the climbing hall on Øya?
All members of Sit Trening have free access to the climbing area, and a declaration of responsibility is signed when purchasing membership and access.
Belaying certificate (steep card/top rope card) is required for belaying in a rope wall. The climbing card gives you access to climb and belay during all forms of indoor climbing. The top rope card is a limited card that only gives access to belaying and climbing on the top rope.
Safety rules for the climbing hall on Øya
In all climbing facilities, safety always comes first, and all activity must be in accordance with the climbing competition poster of the Norwegian Climbing Association.
Important safety requirements and rules that we highlight:
- Requirements for proof of insurance:
- People who secure joints in a rope wall must have an approved steeplechase card.
- People who secure top ropes in rope walls must have an approved top rope card.
- People with a steep pass can guide a belayer without an approved steep pass/top rope pass, as long as you hold on to the passive end of the rope and watch carefully.
- Always buddy check in the rope wall.
- Persons in the fall zone are obliged to give way to climbers.
- An auxiliary rope brake is required in the climbing facility.
- Errors or deficiencies are reported to Sit Trening immediately at trening@sit.no or to the staff at Øya training centre.
- Climbing in bare feet is prohibited.
- Pockets must be emptied before climbing.
